Getting the Party Started

The day after the 2008 presidential election I was asked my opinion of the outcome. I stated I was ecstatic that the election symbolized that the United States was finally moving into a post-racial society but I was concerned that Obama was a communist. I was half-right; his assertion less than a week earlier that “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America” turned out to be far more than rhetoric.

Populism emerges when suffering increases and the needs of ordinary people are being ignored or caused by a corrupt ruling class of society’s establishment elites. In the big picture populism is a symptom of an errant ruling class and tends to appear every couple of generations. After the unanticipated 2016 election of an unorthodox populist I was again hopeful for a course correction but instead witnessed an all-out assault of propaganda and manipulation. In 2020, ordinary Americans lost to the establishment. The transformation continues.

Congratulations to the oligarchy. The careful nurturing of hate, fear, and victimization narratives, the manipulation of truth and facts, and the encouragement and subsequent leveraging of coercive violence by American Marxists and anarchists in the streets has been stunningly successful. Democratic Socialists have ushered themselves in to dominate the halls of power. Now, by hook or by crook — by any means necessary — their quest to morph our constitutional tripartite republic into permanent one-party rule is increasingly plain to see. While it seemed ludicrous to contemplate only a decade ago, the transformation of the United States into a one-party socialist state controlled by an unelected oligarchy is entirely plausible from today’s perch.

No wonder Obama never left DC. As Orwell might quip, The Party is just getting started.
